SITE-Readers Profile

# Procedure Expected Result

1

In DataStudio, connect to the Site Core using a SITE-Readers profile user.

Connection to DataStudio

Connection through DataStudio is disallowed.

2

Use a web browser (such as Chrome) to access WebStudio: (edit the URL to the interface server IP/hostname and port)

Log in with the SITE-Readers user profile and the interface server IP/hostname to authenticate and connect. Add a Faceplate widget to read the value of a KPI object.

Connection to WebStudio

You should be able to read object values below the Site Core without any access permission issue.

3

Add a widget using the default template “Chart > Chart with pen”, but set options.leftPanel to true, and set modelRoot to {"includeRoot":true,"path":"/GXPC KPI/Site"}.

WebStudio Edit Chart
WebStudio Chart
Web Chart cannot display objects with only List but not Read permission, because it must support object name translations and display localized names. Therefore, SITE-Readers cannot view the KPI hierarchy in WebChart. WebChart is deprecated, and its replacement is WebStudio’s chart widget, which allows for a workaround by setting modelRoot.

You should be able to see the site KPI hierarchy and to read object values below the site object.

4

Connect with the inExcel template tool. Use the SITE-Interface Web API server and Windows Authentication. The credentials inputs are ignored.

Connection through inExcel

It connects successfully.

5

Select the I/O Model. Expand the tree view items to explore the structure.

inExcel I/O Site objects

It shows all items under the SITE Relay.

Expanding other objects under the Global Core will not show their contents.

6

List the ISA-95 Equipment Model. Explore the structure.

inExcel ISA-95 Equipment

It shows all items under the SITE object.

7

Optionally, select the KPI Model. Explore the structure.

inExcel KPI

It shows all items under the SITE object.
