Upgrade Central Core System

The following sections explains the upgrade procedure for the Cental Core system, which includes the Global Master Core.

Master Core Server

Login DataStudio to check system health

Master-Core system status

Main objects have good status

System is responsive

In IO-Model, select the Master-Core object. After checking the properties described in the expected results column then close DataStudio.

Hardware performance counters for Master-Core show healthy system

In Property Panel, Master-Core has correct (expected) old version in Software Information property 'Version'.

Login on Master-Core server, and open windows explorer.

Remove (or move away) all old files from D:\installation

Copy the new version of AspenTechInmationSetup.exe to Master-Core server D:\installation

Upgrade source files

Installation source files are in D:\installation

Right click on the AspenTechInmationSetup.exe file and select Properties. Check the "Unblock" box, click Apply then click OK, if required.

Start AspenTechInmationSetup.exe

Upgrade installation Welcome

Setup shows welcome screen for upgrade, with target version number.

Check the checkbox "Agree to license terms and conditions…​"

Check the checkbox "Create image backup…​"

Start upgrade installation by clicking Install.

Close dialog after upgrade finishes.

Login DataStudio to check system health.

Select Master-Core object.

Hardware performance counters show healthy system,

Main objects have good status,

System is responsive.

Master-Core Software Information property 'Version' shows new version.

Node Server (Global)

The Central Core system has multiple Node Servers, the following steps should be executed for each. At least they have to be performed on the 3 Global MongoDB Connectors.

Select Connector object in IO-Model.

Select Connector object in IO-Model.

Change the Common property component version policy to Automatic, Restrictive.

Enter an update comment.

Click Apply

Connector start upgrade

Connector switches to bad status.

Upgrade is running, depending on progress upgrade spinner (white) will become visible.

Upgrade is completed. Connector object status is good again.

IO Subsystem State property 'I/O Timer Recent Time' shows updating timestamp.

Connector Software Information property 'Version' shows new version.

Select Connector object in tree to show Property Panel.

Change the Common property component version policy back to Manual, Permissive.

Enter an update comment.

Click Apply

Login on Interface-Server, and open windows explorer.

Remove (or move away) all old files from D:\installation

Copy the new version of AspenTechInmationSetup.exe to Interface-Server D:\installation
